The devil’s in the details, and a true dandy knows it well. Never underestimate the power and language of socks. They can say a lot about a man’s sense of elegance, and not just his! Socks speak, play, send signals… And if there’s one place where the selection will make your head spin, it’s right here: Cortina d’Ampezzo!
Sottosopra Cortina, since 1987 one of the most iconic concept stores in all of Italy. Mara, Anna, and Daria, the fabulous hosts, along with Stefania, Antonietta, and Roberta, are true queens when it comes to style, taste, and a great eye for curation…
Often called the “bazaar of the Dolomites,” here you can find just about anything: from clothing to mountain-inspired design, tablecloths to antique glassware, porcelain to Tyrolean hats… But when it comes to socks, they really shine. Scottish cotton, cashmere, wool, Gallo socks, thick Tyrolean socks, polka dots, stripes, bright colors, you name it! The selection is huge, enough to make all the style-savvy folks around the world jealous.
My obsession? A new pair every season, plus the must-have lucky extra at the end of the year: the “New Year’s red.” My favorites? Definitely the solid colors in warm cotton, with thick ribbing, the kind I can only find here!
