This summer, some mountain passes in the Dolomites will be closed to traffic for various sporting events. Here is all the information on dates, road closures, and traffic conditions.
Road Closures
On the occasion of the Maratona dles Dolomites, one of the world’s most famous granfondo cycling events, several major Dolomite mountain passes will be closed to vehicular traffic on Sunday, July 5, 2026, to allow the race to take place safely.
Within the Cortina area, the closures will affect Passo Giau, Passo Falzarego, and Valparola.
Road closures are generally scheduled from the early morning until the early afternoon, with gradual reopening once the cyclists have passed.
Residents and visitors are advised to plan their journeys in advance and check for alternative routes during the day of the event.

During the event, Passo Falzarego and Valparola, within the Municipality of Cortina, will be closed to traffic.
The roads will be closed from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with local traffic restrictions starting from 8:30 AM.
