The Queen of the Dolomites never ceases to amaze, even in September. Summer lingers on with crystal-clear views: mountain huts remain open, lifts are still running, and a vibrant calendar of events invites visitors to experience the mountains in their most authentic form.
September in Cortina
For mountain running enthusiasts, Cortina hosts one of the most eagerly awaited events of the season: the Delicious Festival Dolomiti (September 26–27). This multisport celebration features some of the most scenic trail running routes in the Dolomites. And it’s not just about sport—at PalaDelicious in Pocol, the festival comes alive with gourmet tastings, live music, parties, and signature dishes prepared by the Cortina Chef Team and the mountain huts of the Delicious area.
Cycling lovers should mark their calendars for the Cortina Enduro Race (September 11–12), set in the brand-new Socrepes Bike Park, where thrilling descents wind through forests and technical trails. Young riders can take part in the Mini Downhill (September 6) or cheer on athletes at the FCI Regional Downhill Championship (September 13).
September in Cortina is also a celebration of taste. On September 13, The Queen of Taste returns for its ninth edition, the haute cuisine festival that has become a highlight of the season. Among this year’s novelties is the Cortina Chef Tour, a six-stop itinerant lunch crafted by the Cortina Chef Team and enriched by acclaimed Italian culinary stars such as Enrico Bartolini, Giancarlo Cortinovis, and Chris Oberhammer.
The mountains are not only about sport and gastronomy, but also about culture. Until September 26, the summit station of Cima Tofana hosts the photography exhibition Per Aspera ad Astra, which tells the story of Cortina’s mountaineering tradition and its legendary guides.
Meanwhile, at Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti, visitors can explore the exhibition dedicated to the Lagazuoi Winning Ideas Mountain Awards, showcasing innovations in the mountain world—from design to sustainability.
September also marks the gradual closing of the lifts.
The last ride on the Cortina Skyline will take place on September 7, followed by the closure of the Auronzo lifts on September 14 and the Rio Gere – Son Forca chairlift on Mount Cristallo on September 21. The Tofana lifts will remain open until September 28th.
And for those who aren’t ready to say goodbye to summer, the Dolomites still hold a few surprises: the 5 Torri will remain accessible until October 5, while the Lagazuoi will stay open until October 19.
Passes can be purchased online at skipasscortina.com, where updates on lift openings—subject to weather or maintenance—are regularly posted.
