The Gold Cup of the Dolomites

The Gold Cup of the Dolomites

The elegance of engines in the heart of the Dolomites

The Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti will take place in Cortina d’Ampezzo from July 16 to 19, once again confirming its status as one of the most iconic events for enthusiasts of historic cars and classic regularity racing.

The Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti is much more than a regularity race for vintage cars — it’s an emotional journey through the history of motoring set against the majestic backdrop of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.

Every summer, the winding panoramic roads surrounding Cortina d’Ampezzo transform into an extraordinary stage where the engines of legendary vehicles echo through the mountains, tackling dramatic climbs, spectacular hairpin turns, and breathtaking landscapes. Rather than competing for pure speed, participants challenge themselves to maintain consistent timing along a route that winds across some of the most stunning Dolomite passes, including Passo Falzarego, Passo Pordoi, Passo Giau, Misurina, and many others.

From Its Origins to Today

The first edition of the Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti dates back to 1947, when the renewed passion for motorsport in the post-war years led to the creation of a competitive route through the mountains of Veneto. During its golden years, the Coppa was a pure speed race, featuring legendary brands such as Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche, Alfa Romeo, and Lancia. Among the most famous winners was Giovanni Bracco, who triumphed in 1950 behind the wheel of a Ferrari. The race was interrupted in 1956 for safety reasons, but it was revived in the 1990s as a historic regularity event, preserving its original charm. Today, the Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti is part of the international FIA and ACI Storico calendars, confirming its status as a must-attend event for those who love motors, history, and breathtaking landscapes.

Cortina d’Ampezzo: the Beating Heart of the Event

The event is centered in Cortina d’Ampezzo, known as the “Queen of the Dolomites.” During the Coppa d’Oro, historic cars are displayed throughout the town center, transforming it into an elegant open-air parade of vintage automobiles. The atmosphere is that of an exclusive celebration, where retro charm meets evening cocktails, parades, live music, and stories from another era.
