Women’s elite cycling returns to the spotlight in the UNESCO Dolomites with the passage of the 2026 Giro d’Italia Women through Cortina d’Ampezzo.
On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the 5th stage of the women’s Giro d’Italia will cross the Ampezzo Valley along the route connecting Longarone and Santo Stefano di Cadore, offering one of the most spectacular settings of the entire race.
Today, the Giro d’Italia Women is one of the world’s most prestigious women’s cycling events, attracting top international riders, cycling enthusiasts, and media from across the globe.
The June 3 stage will take the peloton into the heart of the Belluno Dolomites, passing along some of the most iconic roads and mountain passes in Alpine cycling. After departing from Longarone, the race will gradually enter the dramatic Dolomite landscape before reaching Cortina d’Ampezzo in the early afternoon.
The riders will travel along the state road that runs through the centre of Cortina, giving residents and visitors the perfect opportunity to experience the excitement of the Giro up close and cheer on the peloton in the heart of the resort town.
From central Cortina, the race will turn towards Alverà and begin the ascent of Passo Tre Croci, one of the most scenic sections of the stage, surrounded by forests, breathtaking views, and the peaks of the UNESCO Dolomites.
With challenging climbs, panoramic stretches, and constant changes of pace, the stage promises plenty of action and could already prove decisive for the general classification, covering 146 km with approximately 3,400 metres of elevation gain.
The Giro’s passage through Cortina will bring a day of celebration, colour, and excitement to the town—an unmissable opportunity to support the world’s best female cyclists along one of the most captivating routes of the 2026 Giro d’Italia Women.
In Cortina d’Ampezzo, the SS51 Alemagna State Road will be closed on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
According to the official Prefectural Order, the SS51 will be closed approximately 45 minutes before the race passes through and will remain closed until race operations have been completed.
