Christmas in Cortina

Christmas in Cortina

Experience the magic of the holidays in the heart of the Dolomites

Christmas in Cortina d’Ampezzo is a uniquely enchanting experience where alpine tradition, festive elegance and breathtaking scenery come together. Throughout the holiday season, the Queen of the Dolomites glows with sparkling lights, refined decorations and the unmistakable scents of winter, turning the town centre into a picture-perfect mountain Christmas village.

Christmas traditions in Cortina d’Ampezzo

The celebrations begin along Corso Italia, Cortina’s iconic pedestrian street. Here, the Christmas tree and Nativity scene set the tone for the season, framed by stylish boutique windows and the cosy aroma of mulled wine served in the town centre.

One of the most cherished traditions is the Christmas Eve Mass at the Basilica of Saints Filippo and Giacomo. This deeply felt moment of spirituality brings together locals and visitors every year at 10:00 p.m., followed by the traditional performance of Cortina’s historic Music Band “Corpo Musicale di Cortina d’Ampezzo“.

December in Cortina is also marked by the town’s charming Advent Calendar on the façade of the Comun Vècio, revealing a new artistic image dedicated to the Nativity each day.

For guests who love craftsmanship and the charm of Christmas markets, some of the region’s most renowned markets are just a short drive away. Brunico, Bolzano and the Val Pusteria offer boutique-quality alpine stalls, perfect for discovering artisanal products and unique gift ideas.

Christmas in Cortina is all this: authentic traditions, alpine warmth, understated luxury and a natural setting so extraordinary it makes every moment unforgettable.

Rounding out the festive calendar, every year Cortina for Us brings the Christmas season to life with a rich programme of activities designed for families, children, and visitors of all ages. Shows, entertainment, music, games, and special moments transform the heart of Cortina into a true festive village, making the countdown to Christmas and the holiday season even more magical.
